BOOST4BIOEAST project Kick-Off Meeting in Hungary - Setting the Stage for Collaborative Progress in Bioeconomy

The BOOST4BIOEAST project kick-off meeting, held on March 5th and 6th, 2024, at the Research Centre for Natural Sciences in Budapest, Hungary, marked a significant milestone in advancing bioeconomic initiatives across the BIOEAST region. When looking back on the BIOEAST project, BOOST4BIOEAST is an important continuation of bioeconomy efforts.

The agenda covered a range of topics and workshops, showcasing the project's diverse work packages (WPs). Work Package 1 (WP1) took the lead in the first session, diving into project, HUB, and Technical Working Group (TWG) monitoring. An informative workshop on the Logframe method provided valuable insights.

An interesting part of the meeting was the in-depth exploration of Work Package 3 (WP3), led by DBFZ. The session covered biomass and competencies mapping, sharing experiences and brainstorming on mapping needs and initiatives.

WP4 touched on bioeconomy innovation ecosystems, presenting initial findings of desk research, while WP5 discussed competency mapping results and introduced the BIOEAST UniNet and Knowledge Platform.

The second day, March 6th, began with an exploration of lessons learned from the first BIOEAST Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) development process. Work Package 6 (WP6) focused on communication and dissemination strategies, including an interactive session on website content development, which will be coming soon.

The meeting embraced interactive formats, including a WP speed-dating session and a round-robin discussion involving all WPs, promoting collaboration and idea exchange. It concluded with a report back to the consortium, a summary of key points, and an outline of the next steps.

The BOOST4BIOEAST in-person kick-off meeting showcased the richness of the project's agenda and underscored the consortium's commitment to collaborative bioeconomic advancements in the BIOEAST region. As the meeting drew to a close, participants left with a shared vision and a roadmap for the exciting journey ahead in sustainable bioeconomy.

The kick-off meeting was followed by the ANNUAL BIOEAST BIOECONOMY CONFERENCE with the sub-theme The Role of National HUBs in National and macro-regional Bioeconomy Policies and R&I Priorities in the BIOEAST countries. See agenda here.
