A new paper published! “Intensification of Waste Valorization Techniques for Biogas Production on the Example of Clarias gariepinus Droppings”

In this paper, we describe the results of a study of the effect of electric current on the anaerobic digestion of clariid catfish excreta and comparison with the addition of stimulating substances (humates and zeolites). When the main metabolic pathways for electron acceptor recruitment were identified using bioinformatics databases, a model of methanogenesis was generated by blocks of enzymatic reactions.

Highlights:

- A case study on intensification of methanogenesis by electrolysis pretreatment, electro-fermentation, and addition of humates and zeolites during anaerobic digestion of clary catfish feces.

- The electro-fermentation process released 4.3 times more methane compared to conventional conditions.

- The model of methanogenesis by blocks of enzymatic reactions in a medium with an additional exogenous source of hydrogen.

- Technological solutions for the implementation of the process of intensification of the production of biogas from the excreta of clariid catfish for the production of bioenergy under SDG 7.
