BRT at SCGEMS 2025: Sustainable Bioprocessing of Phosphogypsum
BRT Senior Researcher Associate Professor Dr. Yelizaveta Chernysh participated remotely in the 4th Scientific Conference of Geotechnical Engineering and Materials Science (SCGEMS), held on 16–17 April 2025 in Al-Samawah, Iraq. The event brought together global experts to discuss innovations in geotechnical and materials science.
As a member of the SCGEMS 2025 conference committee and an invited speaker, Dr. Chernysh delivered a keynote presentation titled: “Phosphogypsum as a Mineral Resource for Bioprocesses.” Her talk focused on transforming phosphogypsum, a by-product of the phosphate fertilizer industry, into valuable resources using biotechnological methods. She highlighted how these sustainable approaches help reduce environmental impact, restore soil fertility, and advance circular economy goals.
This keynote was a milestone in Dr. Chernysh’s research journey, encapsulating the key outcomes of the MSCA4Ukraine-funded project, PG-BIOPRO which is nearing completion. Her work exemplifies how science and sustainability go hand in hand to address pressing environmental challenges.
