BRT Coordinates BIO-CAPITAL Consortium Meeting in Bucharest to Advance the Project’s Next Phase

The BRT coordinated the BIO-CAPITAL Consortium Meeting at the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences in Bucharest, Romania, bringing project partners together for several days of strategic discussions, technical exchange, and collaborative planning.

The meeting opened with remarks from project coordinator and BRT Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubík, followed by sessions focused on strategic alignment and integration. Partners reflected on review outcomes, aligned expectations for the project’s next phase, and worked to strengthen the BIO-CAPITAL Integration Framework.

A key focus of the meeting was improving coordination across work packages and connecting policy, monitoring, certification, finance, and use cases into a clearer operational structure. Through workshops and cross-work package task forces, partners discussed how to translate project concepts into practical workflows and implementation pathways.

The second day focused on technical consolidation and long-term exploitation of project outputs. Partners explored how BIO-CAPITAL results can be used beyond the project lifetime, supporting future initiatives and strengthening the project’s exploitation strategy.

As part of the programme, partners also travelled to the use case site in Bucu, where discussions continued around stakeholder engagement, local community involvement, co-creation workshops, and the social dimension of the project. The field visit provided valuable insight into the local ecosystem context, relevant stakeholders, planned financial mechanisms, and the applicability of BIO-CAPITAL tools in real implementation settings.

The final sessions focused on operationalisation, including next steps for use case harmonisation, pilot preparation, biodiversity monitoring, dissemination, and scientific outputs. Across the meeting, partners worked together to clarify responsibilities, strengthen integration, and support the transition toward the next phase of BIO-CAPITAL implementation.

The consortium meeting marked an important step in advancing BIO-CAPITAL’s strategic direction and ensuring that the project’s tools, frameworks, and outputs are prepared for meaningful application in practice.
