Congratulations to Ing. Yehor Nykyforov, Ing. et Ing. Babatunde Tijani Liasu and Ing. Victor Adedeji Abiodun, who successfully defended their thesis!

Babatunde Tijani Liasu was master student at the Biogas Research Team under the supervision of Associate Professor Hynek Roubík with his research focused on:

Small-Scale Biogas Technology in Nigeria - Perspective of rural areas”

Objective of this study was to present the state of the art and research challenges of small-scale biogas plants in Nigeria, assess the current perspective and provide the necessary recommendations for future development of this technology in rural areas.

Thanks goes also to prof. Temitayo Abayomi Ewemoje, Ph.D. from University of Ibadan (Nigeria), who was reviewer and opponent of this thesis.

Victor Adedeji Abiodun was master student at the Biogas Research Team under the supervision of Associate Professor Hynek Roubík with his research focused on:

“Challenges for biogas commercialization in Nigeria”

Objective of this study was to investigate, review and provide insight into the state of biogas technology in Nigeria with specific attention to the challenges affecting the commercialization of biogas and proffer possible solutions to mitigate those challenges.

Thanks goes also to Dr. Tatiana Nevzorova from RISE - Research Institutes of Sweden (Sweden), who was reviewer and opponent of this thesis.

And finally, Yehor Nykyforov who was also a master student at the Biogas Research Team under the supervision of Associate Professor Hynek Roubík and co-supervision of Dr. Stacy Denise Hammond Hammond (Crop Research Institute) with his research focused on:

“Development of an efficient slow-growth method for the In vitro storage of garlic (Allium sativum)”

The research objectives were to: 1) Development of an efficient slow-growth method for the medium term in vitro conservation of Allium sativum genetic resources. 2) Optimization of a protocol for the medium-term in vitro conservation of Allium sativum using two basal culture media (either full-strength MS or half-strength MS medium) supplemented by osmotic agents (sucrose, mannitol and sorbitol), plant growth inhibitors ( chlorcholinchlorid (CCC) and abscisic acid (ABA)) as culture medium supplements, and cultivation temperatures of either 5°C ± 1°C or 18°C ± 1°C.

Thanks goes also to Dr. Miroslav Klíma from Crop Research Institute (Czech Republic), who was reviewer and opponent of this thesis.

In addition, topic of Yehor Nykyforov was chosen to be the best from the master’s degree program “Agri-food Systems and Rural Development” by the Master´s thesis defense committee. Congratulations to Yehor!
