As part of the ongoing partnership between the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) and Mendel University (MENDELU) in Brno, the BioResources and Technology (BRT) Division was delighted to welcome a delegation from Sumy National Agrarian University, Ukraine. This visit, part of the initiative "Strengthening the Capacities of Public Higher Education Institutions in Ukraine," aimed to foster academic and research collaboration through hands-on experiences and cultural exchange.
In September 2024, our Ukrainian colleagues, accompanied by partners from MENDELU, were guided to provide a comprehensive view of the CZU educational and research facilities. It included the following highlights:
- Welcome meeting at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences - introducing the guests to CZU’s academic programs and current initiatives.
- Campus and Faculty Tour - which offered a closer look at the botanical garden, tropical greenhouses, and university farm, showcasing our commitment to sustainability and agricultural innovation.
- Facilities visit - where guests explored progressive teaching approaches in the agro-industrial sector, enhancing skills for future specialists in the field.
- Tour of the BRT Laboratory - featuring biogas and organic waste conversion projects. This included demonstrations of the laboratory used in student training and research.
Throughout their time, our guests engaged in meaningful discussions with faculty and researchers, exploring educational processes, project management practices, and key challenges facing the agro-industry today. Such visits play an essential role in strengthening scientific ties and expanding collaborative opportunities, contributing to a globally connected academic landscape.
