The H2SCALE project officially launched with a kick-off meeting hosted by the Faculty of Economics at the University of Pécs, Hungary. This foundational event brought together partners from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovenia, and Hungary to discuss the shared vision and strategic goals for advancing hydrogen technologies, renewable energy systems, and sustainable mobility solutions. The H2SCALE project focuses on building a robust foundation for hydrogen ecosystems across regions.
The kick-off meeting centred around the project’s main objectives, including detailed discussions of the work packages, an activity timeline, and eligible tasks that align with the project’s ambitious aims. With an emphasis on system integration, each partner presented insights on hydrogen production, renewable energy use, and the establishment of energy communities to support sustainable growth in each region. Partners also emphasized engaging local stakeholders to foster a supportive ecosystem for hydrogen-based technologies.
The meeting laid out clear responsibilities and roles for each partner, with in-depth discussions on project roadmaps, legal frameworks, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Evaluating legal, social, and financial conditions to support hydrogen investments, and identifying successful models and key stakeholders. Participants agreed on a coordinated approach for capacity building and outlined milestones to ensure steady project progress. An ongoing schedule of workshops and check-ins will support smooth execution and maintain strong collaboration across borders. Conducting surveys and workshops to address local needs and foster active participation within hydrogen communities.
As part of the meeting, participants visited Kontakt-Elektro, a leading Hungarian company specializing in fuel cell technologies and hydrogen energy solutions. Kontakt-Elektro has been at the forefront of fuel cell development and hydrogen applications, focusing on innovative power systems that support sustainable energy goals. The company customizes fuel cells for diverse applications, from backup power systems to off-grid solutions, and actively contributes to the advancement of hydrogen as a clean energy source. This visit provided H2SCALE partners with valuable insights into practical hydrogen applications and the technological advancements shaping the future of hydrogen energy.
This milestone for the H2SCALE project marks a promising start to establishing hydrogen-based mobility and energy solutions, advancing the hydrogen economy, and driving sustainable development in Europe. Stay tuned as we continue to document H2SCALE’s journey toward a cleaner, greener future!
