The BIO-CAPITAL project is a Horizon Europe initiative dedicated to developing sustainable financing models for biodiversity conservation. Coordinating this ambitious project is our very own BRT Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubík!
In a recent interview, Hynek sat down with Diego Ibánez, Communication Manager of the RESTOREID project, to discuss how these projects align, collaborate, and tackle shared challenges. With his extensive background in environmental and resource management, Hynek shared valuable insights on BIO-CAPITAL’s mission and the importance of cross-project synergies. The interview highlights how both projects share complementary goals, with BIO-CAPITAL integrating financial models with Earth observation data, while RESTOREID focuses on ecosystem restoration and disease prevention.
Looking ahead, Hynek and the BIO-CAPITAL team are preparing for an upcoming project meeting in Prague, continuing to push forward with collaboration, practical use cases, and connecting biodiversity efforts to economic opportunities!
“In one sentence, I would say it’s important to keep in mind that biodiversity is not just an environmental concern, but it’s also an economic opportunity. And through collaboration with different stakeholders, policy, industry and research, BIO-CAPITAL is trying to find a way for more sustainable financial models that can benefit both nature and society.”
