Meet our new intern - Patrycja Rowińska
To broaden and develop our teams’ collaborative skills while offering visiting students the chance to expand their scientific networks and gain cultural experiences, BRT encourages students to join our team for internship opportunities. These internships aim to facilitate idea exchange, foster professional growth, and create opportunities for collaboration. Meet the new intern joining our team from Poland, Patrycja Rowińska!
Hi there! My name is Patrycja Rowińska, and I'm a Chemical Engineering PhD candidate from Lodz University of Technology in Poland. I'm working on biopreparations development and agricultural microbiology. Essentially, I'm figuring out how to use soil bacteria to create sustainable biological solutions for agriculture. My research focuses on evaluating and selecting soil bacteria, particularly spore-forming bacteria, to develop new biopreparations.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Lodz and a master's in Biotechnology from Lodz University of Technology. My bachelor's degree was more focused on medical microbiology and working with pathogenic bacteria while my master’s degree was focused on industrial microbiology and fermentation technology. Both of these approaches are now helping me in the laboratory work.
Beyond the lab, I have quite a few hobbies: crocheting, reading, writing short stories, painting, photography, video games, bouldering, and recently learning to figure skate. I'm honestly not extremely good at any of them, but that's what makes them fun. They bring me happiness without the pressure of perfection, and I think that's what hobbies should be for.
I'm really excited to join the BioResources and Technology Division (BRT) this summer! What drew me here was the team's commitment to sustainable bioeconomy and applying biotechnology to real agricultural challenges. This internship gives a chance to expand my scientific horizons, learn from other researchers, and explore a new city. I've never visited Prague before, so that's an added bonus!
I can't wait to get started!
