Meet our new intern – Rahul Keswani

To broaden and develop our teams’ collaborative skills while offering visiting students the chance to expand their scientific networks and gain cultural experiences, BRT encourages students to join our team for internship opportunities. These internships aim to facilitate idea exchange, foster professional growth, and create opportunities for collaboration. Meet the new intern joining our team from India, Rahul Keswani!

Hi, I’m Rahul Keswani! I was born and brought up in the tropical city of Raipur in Chhattisgarh, India. I completed my education in microbiology (interdisciplinary with zoology and chemistry). Following graduation, I took a sabbatical due to the economic recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and worked in a higher secondary school (Krishna Public School, Sarona) as a Trained Graduate Teacher in Science. During this time I also pursued a professional teaching course (Bachelors of Education). I think teaching is a wonderful profession. I counseled many students to help them gain their maximum potential and discover their journey through life. Meanwhile, this practice inspired me to discover my own interest - to study and work in the field of Environmental Science. I evolved professionally and am now ready to study and explore this field for a lifetime.

While pursuing my master’s in environmental science at the School of Studies in Environmental Science at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, I grew enthusiastic about new ideas and approaches heading towards a sustainable world. I noticed that there is a general notion regarding sustainability; that it comes with the cost of personal enjoyment and comfort. The simplification of this paradox comes with the approach of hedonistic sustainability that challenges this notion and opens doors for easy acceptance of sustainability for the majority of the world. I personally believe that technology does not have to be environment’s adversary. Sustainable designs and clean technologies can have stimulating social effects. Researches and developers always guide us to move from “Less is more” to “Yes is more”.

Apart from working with science, I have a hobby of Mobile Photography and I am fond of capturing nature through the lens of my phone. I can also be an efficient communicator and presenter as I have learned this through my teaching experience. Moreover, I am excited to explore Prague in this wonderful spring season.

I am extremely excited to be a part of BioResources & Technology (BRT) team this spring season as an intern. As an environmentalist, I am thrilled at the many ways the world is transforming to create a sustainable future. Adding to it, I am pleased to be a part of this process with such a prestigious team and am ready to explore multiple opportunities in the domain of biogas research. My goals as an intern with BRT are to explore all the opportunities and research of all team members and learn to the best of my capabilities. I am excited to discover about the implementation of the technologies related to biogas research and open doors to create future research collaborations!
