The Knowledge, Research, and Education Conference (KRECon), held since 2010, returned for 2024, gathering leading minds in research, education, and innovation. Held annually at the National Library of Technology (NTK) in Prague under the auspices of Minister for Science, Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS, MŠMT). KRECon has established itself as a critical platform for discussing forward-looking and provocative topics in the Czech Republic’s R&D&I sector.
This year’s conference, Strategic Support for Science: Main Directions and Challenges, aimed to explore essential questions surrounding research support in the Czech environment. The event explored current evaluation metrics, their implications for defining national research priorities, and strategies for long-term support and management. By fostering a space for critical reflection and collaboration, KRECon seeks to contribute to shaping the future of science and research policy in the Czech Republic.
Representing the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) was Vice-dean for Science, Research, and Doctoral Study at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences and BRT Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubík. He is a distinguished expert in waste management and environmental engineering, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous international projects under his leadership. As a member of the Czech R&D&I Council, he brought invaluable insights into the intersection of scientific research and policy-making.
KRECon 2024 reaffirms its role as a catalyst for innovative dialogue, equipping stakeholders with the tools to navigate the evolving landscape of science and research in the Czech Republic.
