Introducing BRT’s new PhD student - Ayeah Gideon Gobti
Recently, the BRT welcomed new PhD student Ayeah Gideon Gobti. Read his firsthand account detailing his background and aspirations below!
Bonjour to everyone! I am Ayeah Gideon Gobti from Cameroon, a PhD student at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ). Cameroon is a primarily bilingual country that has French and English as its official languages. Referred to as “Africa miniature”, it is known for its geographical, political, and cultural diversity, with over 250 local languages.
I have always been fascinated by nature, which led me to develop a passion for geology at the secondary and university levels. Rather than saying “Biology is Life”, my motto is “Geology is Life”. Later, a desire to specialise in an area of life sciences led me to complete my master’s in agriculture at FTZ. My topic was “Influencing Factors for Household Decisions on Adoption and Use of Biogas Technology: The Case of Bamenda, Northwest Region of Cameroon” and I graduated in June 2024.
Generally, I chose to study at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) because it specialises in life sciences and a multidisciplinary research approach. Specifically, I chose BRT because of its alignment with my research area, which focuses on how to advance the use of biogas technology. While working on the topic “GIS-based Multicriteria Assessment of Biogas Potential in the Buea Urban Municipality, Cameroon and Utilisation Scenarios”, I will contribute to research in the BRT and support its activities.
Professionally, I would like to be an expert in the field of biogas technology by contributing to the existing knowledge and policies that will advance the use and adoption of biogas technology in biogas-potential-rich areas in Cameroon, Africa, and around the world. In my personal time I love travelling, hiking, camping and adventures.
