Introducing BRT’s new Postdoctoral Researcher - Bojana Petrovic
Recently, the BRT welcomed new postdoctoral researcher Bojana Petrovic. Read her firsthand account detailing her background and aspirations below!
Hi everyone!
My name is Bojana Petrovic, and I’m originally from Serbia. I am excited to join the BRT team as a researcher. My work focuses on sustainable and precision agriculture, urban forestry, soil science and remote sensing applications, combining environmental modelling with advanced spatial and AI-based methods.
I completed my Ph.D. in Horticulture at Mendel University in Brno and previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Italy at the Polytechnic University of Marche and in Hungary at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE). Throughout my academic journey, I have been particularly interested in how we can use satellite data, climate information, and ground-based measurements together to better understand agricultural and ecological systems.
At BRT, I will be working on integrating remote sensing and AI tools into research activities, helping expand the team’s scientific portfolio and developing innovative approaches for environmental monitoring and sustainable land management. I am especially interested in urban forests, agricultural landscapes, forestry systems, and how climate change influences vegetation dynamics.
What attracted me to BRT is its interdisciplinary and forward-thinking approach. The combination of applied research, innovative technologies, and international collaboration creates a stimulating environment where new ideas can truly grow. I am particularly excited about contributing to projects that connect environmental science, spatial modelling, and real-world applications.
Beyond research, I am passionate about international collaboration and am also part of the PANGEOS COST Action core coordination team, where I work with researchers across Europe on remote sensing and environmental monitoring topics.
When I’m not analyzing satellite imagery, I enjoy spending time in nature, exploring forests and landscapes (sometimes with a researcher’s eye!), travelling, and discovering new cultures and cuisines. I strongly believe that curiosity - whether scientific or personal - is what drives both innovation and growth.
I’m looking forward to collaborating with the BRT team and contributing to exciting new research directions. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss remote sensing, agriculture, urban forestry, soil science or simply exchange ideas!
