Introducing BRT’s newest Project Manager - Aishwarya Chaure
Recently, the BRT welcomed a new Project Manager Aishwarya Chaure. Read all about her firsthand account detailing her background and aspirations below!
Hello and Namaste, everyone! My name is Aishwarya Chaure. I have been part of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) and the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ) since 2019. I completed my PhD here, focusing on the biological activity and chemical composition of Indian medicinal plants traditionally used in the treatment of pneumonia. I successfully defended my thesis in September 2024. I come from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India, a region known for its incredible biodiversity. Growing up in a community where tribal populations heavily rely on traditional, plant-based healthcare systems has deeply influenced my passion for plants, science, and research since childhood. This exposure laid the foundation for my journey into natural product chemistry, ethnobotany, and traditional knowledge systems.
During my PhD, I had the chance to participate in several field trips across India to collect plant samples. These experiences helped me connect more meaningfully with the knowledge, culture, and people at the heart of my research. During one such trip, I had the opportunity to contribute to establishing a formal academic partnership between FTZ (CZU) and Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University in Raipur (India), an effort aimed at fostering collaboration and shared learning between our institutions.
Currently, I am working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Ethnobotany and Ethnopharmacology, where I continue my exploration of medicinal plants and their traditional applications. Recently, I developed a strong interest in EU project writing and coordination after attending a training in Brussels, where I gained firsthand insight into how EU grants are structured and managed. That experience broadened my perspective and motivated me to join the BRT team as a Project Manager, where I now contribute to the coordination and development of international research initiatives.
What drew me most to BRT is its mission and values, particularly the focus on bio-circular economy, zero waste concepts, and creating impact for local communities. These themes strongly align with my professional interests and background. I am sincerely grateful to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubík, the Director of BRT and dean of FTZ, for welcoming me so warmly and giving me the opportunity to contribute to such a passionate and dynamic team. At BRT, my role also includes contributing to research on supercritical water extraction for organic waste valorisation, guided by Dr. Roubík, an exciting new area that I am eager to explore. It is incredibly fulfilling to continue my journey within my favourite faculty, now not only as a student but as a contributor to ongoing and impactful research. I look forward to this next chapter with enthusiasm and gratitude!
