Visiting Internship Insights – Rahul Keswani
To broaden and develop our teams’ collaborative skills while offering visiting students the chance to expand their scientific networks and gain cultural experiences, BRT encourages students to join our team for internship opportunities. These internships aim to facilitate idea exchange, foster professional growth, and create opportunities for collaboration.
Recently, we hosted Rahul Keswani, a student from India. Read his introductory blog HERE.
Enjoy reading about his experience with BRT!
My internship with BRT was focused on exploring the combined application of different soil additives and their effect on the growth of plant biomass. I express my deep gratitude towards BRT for providing me with such a diverse platform for my internship during my Erasmus+ mobility. Aside from my studies, this internship was very fruitful in hands-on training of the research in repurposing of wastes into essential soil additives.
During my journey, I performed combined soil application of phosphogypsum and vermicompost leachate and their effect on the growth of the mustard plant under artificial tropical conditions created inside the laboratory. I am thankful for the guidance and support from Dr. Viktoriia Chubur, Dr. Yelizaveta Chernysh and Dr. Olena Yakhnenko under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hynek Roubik. They helped me complete my tasks under standard operating procedures for reliable results.
In addition to the core team I worked with, I was surrounded by kind and compassionate Ph.D. students like Abdulazeez Shobajo and Manvendra Kumar. I learned various research insights from them as well. Overall, I made great connections throughout this internship and always looking forward for future explorations!
